In order for your paper to appear in the Technical Program and be presented at RIO Acoustics Symposium, the following requirements must be met:

Failure to present the paper at the conference will result in withdrawal of the paper from the published Proceedings of IEEE/OES RIO Acoustics 2017 Symposium. The USB key distributed at the symposium may contain your paper, but that is not the official publication and cannot be cited in other literature. Please be sure to attend and present your paper or have a co-author do so.

Authors of papers published in the proceedings of RIO Acoustics conferences have the opportunity to develop manuscripts based on their conference papers and to submit such manuscripts for publication in the peer-reviewed IEEE Journal of Oceanic Engineering. However, manuscripts that are simply minor revisions to the RIO Acoustics paper present a problem of extensive duplication of material in citable documents that are already on IEEE Xplore. Such manuscripts are therefore not suitable for review in the Journal. The manuscript submitted to the Journal should represent a development of the RIO Acoustics paper. Examples of manuscript developments include, for instance, addition of referenced, historical and scholarly context for the authors' contribution, elaboration of materials and methods, presentation of results with a discussion of their significance and potential expansion in future work. For authors who want to follow this opportunity, a recommended length for the RIO Acoustics contribution is 4 to 6 pages, to avoid substantial duplication of the presentation in the RIO Acoustics paper.

Detailed instructions for submission of manuscripts to the Journal are available on the Journal's website. The authors' cover letter must clearly state that the manuscript is a developed version of work previously presented at a RIO Acoustics conference. In accordance with IEEE principles of scholarly publication authors must cite their RIO Acoustics proceedings papers in all subsequently developed versions of these papers.

All manuscripts submitted to the Journal that are deemed suitable for review undergo the same rigorous peer-review process. The decision to accept or reject a manuscript submitted to the Journal is based on the outcome of the reviews.
